So while cross-platform play remains available across Windows, Mac, and Linux - provided all systems have the same game version and DLC activated - you still can't play multiplayer Civilization VI between PC and iOS, Playstation 4, or Nintendo Switch. This new mode is meant to bridge players between Steam and the Epic Games store.

Aspyr have said it will be enabled after the initial update cycle. However, at the moment, you can't play cross-platform MP.

As far as I'm aware you need the Mac version that was ported by aspyr to play civ 6 on Mac It's Steamplay, so you only need to buy it once to play it on either platform.

Aspyr Media - the developers of the Mac/Linux version of Civ 6 - said on twitter on 29th May that: Maya & Gran Colombia Pack is available now.

6 Since a PC update to 1.0.1.501, this seems to have broken cross platform play between Mac/Linux versions and PC versions of the game.

The question is: does this new mode enable cross-platform multiplayer? No, not automated city management or puppet mode, though that would be nice too.
